Sand instead of petroleum
Conventional rubber bike grips are based on petroleum and therefore rely on a finite resource.
Silicone, on the other hand, is based on silicon. Silicon is the second most abundant element in the earth's crust and is extracted from quartz sand.
The world's quartz sand reserves are virtually unlimited, and there are also large deposits in Europe.
Long-lasting
Rubber bike grips need to contain plasticizers to become soft. Plasticizers are the reason that grips become sticky over time. UV radiation and sweat cause the plasticizers to dissolve from the grips as time passes.
Since silicone does not contain plasticizers, the grips will never become sticky. Another advantage is the high abrasion resistance of silicone. We have designed the surface textures in a way that minimizes abrasion.
